PUBLIC SAFETY
Under the direction of Acting Director Anthony Ambrose, the Department of Public Safety coordinates Jersey City’s Police Department, Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEM), Parking Enforcement, and Fire Prevention.
As the second-largest city in New Jersey, your safety is paramount.
At the Department of Public Safety, our focus is clear: protect life, improve response, support victims, and provide residents with reliable information and transparent access to services.
Did you know that YOU are a vital tool in combating crime? It's true. Our residents and community members play a direct role in prevention, awareness, and response. We need your help to keep Jersey City a safe place to live, work, and play by sharing information, submitting anonymous tips, and supporting emergency preparedness efforts. Thank you for being our partners against crime!
