Jersey City Housing Authority Waiting Lists to Open October 21

The Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) will be opening some of our waiting lists on October 21 for a five-week period. Please see the attached flyers in English and Spanish specifying the time frame of the application period, the lists that will be open (only lists for some of our developments and for specific bedroom sizes will be opened), and the website where the application can be accessed.

Additionally, we will be posting on our website contact information for agencies who have the capacity (computers and staff) to assist individuals seeking to complete the online application. If your agency would like to be included on that list, please email

The application will open online at on October 21, 2019, at 12:01 a.m. and close on November 30, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. There are no paper applications. The open lists will be for the following sites and apartment types:
  • Berry Gardens (senior only site) — Studio and 2-bedroom
  • T. J. Stewart (senior only site) — Studio
  • 3 New Heckman Drive (senior/disabled building) — 3-bedroom
  • Booker T. Washington — 4-bedroom
  • Marion Gardens — 5- and 6-bedroom
Only one application may be submitted per person. After submission, applicants will be given a confirmation number for future reference. The waiting list is computerized and will be monitored by a third-party vendor. All those who successfully submit an application will be notified of their status within 10 weeks after the application period close.
