Traffic and Travel Advisories
Jersey City is only 14.7 square miles in area, but it contains over a hundred miles in roads. Normally it’s pretty simple to get from one place to another, and while the City encourages people to use our many public transportation options, sometimes you do just have to take the car.
Usually, traffic flows pretty well. There are those occasions, however, whether planned or unplan- ned, which cause street closings and traffic diversions. Lets face it—whether you’re commuting to work, visiting the in-laws, or just trying to get the kids to school on time, it’s helpful to know which routes to avoid and which ones to take before you set out. • Van Winkle Ave. between Tonnelle & Skillman
• Newark Ave. near Kennedy Boulevard
• Newark Ave. near Pavonia Ave.
• Monmouth Street near Newark Ave.
This work is being done to support the PSE&G North East Grid (NE Grid) Electric Transmission Reliability Project, www.pseg.com/negrid.
If possible, motorists are asked to consider alternate routes; and, PSE&G reminds motorists to slow down and be alert when driving near the work zone.
