Under the direction of Director Mark Redfield, the Department of Public Works is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Jersey City, making every effort to maximize the efficient, effective use of the City's resources. DPW is committed to public safety and providing prompt, courteous quality service to our customers and each other.
As of April 1, 2016, the Department of Public Works has assumed the responsibilities of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority, which has been dissolved. These services include:
- Special Collections (i.e. white goods, electronic waste)
- Residential Garbage & Recycling Collection (for collection schedules, click here)
- Recycling Information
- Environmental Compliance
- Container Rental Program
- Container Services & Neighborhood Clean-ups
- Property Maintenance
- Mechanical Street Sweeping
- Graffiti Removal
- Snow Plowing, Salting & Removal
The Department of Public Works will be providing recycling containers to one and two-family homeowners in an effort to increase recycling citywide.
Eligible recipients will receive one (1) round recycling bin for co-mingled recyclables and one (1) square bin for paper and cardboard recyclables.
Containers can be obtained staring May 9th, Monday through Friday between 2pm and 7pm while supplies last at:
