A mother of four children, one of which is adopted and Autistic, Councilwoman Diane Coleman has been and continues to be a firm defender of Jersey City’s neediest residents. As Founder and CEO of Building an Empire, Inc., for almost 13 years Diane has provided a wide variety of social services, including assisting over 8,000 residents in finding apartments, paying security deposits and back rent, as well as providing employment readiness seminars and information on job placement and employment opportunities. Through Building an Empire, Inc., Diane regularly lends a helping hand to seniors and other residents by providing referrals to other agencies for food, clothing, and furniture.
A resident of Jersey City for over 50 years, Diane has been a community activist who does not believe in government as usual. Her belief is every neighborhood should be golden. As Councilwoman, she will remain involved and visible to the residents of Ward F, communicating openly and honestly with the community.
Diane Coleman has over 30 years of leadership in both corporate administration and human services, including four years as a Congressional Aide to then Congressman, now United States Senator, Robert Menendez. Her brand of leadership spells passion and she is committed to making a change in Ward F. From her founding of Building an Empire, Inc., to serving as a former Congressional Aide, to being the former Executive Vice President of the Urban League of Hudson County, Diane has worked relentlessly for the needs of the community and, as Councilwoman, will continue to do so for all residents of Ward F.
