Biography
Willie L. Flood was one of eleven children born in Greensboro, Alabama to Willie and Israel Lewis and attended Ella Grant Elementary and Blount High School in Mobile, Alabama.
Willie Flood furthered her education at the School of Professional Studies and Education at Alabama State College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Music in 1962.
Willie Flood began her educational career in the Jersey City School System as an Elementary Teacher while she earned her Master of Arts degree in Guidance from Jersey City State College. She was the Coordinator of Desegregation in the system until 1988, when she was named Assistant Principal of Public School #15, Whitney Young Jr. School.
Willie Flood was appointed by the Jersey City Municipal Council on July 18, 1990 and was elected as Councilwoman-at-Large in the General Election held in November 1990. Mrs. Flood continues to serve the public. She was elected and sworn in to serve as Council-at-Large on July 1, 2005 and will serve in that capacity until June 30, 2013. She was also elected and presently serves as the Hudson County Registrar for the County of Hudson.
Willie Flood is the loving mother of John, Todd and Phillip and the beloved wife of Phillip T. Flood, whom she married on March 2, 1973.
