The Division of Architecture is responsible for the design of new and rehabilitated municipal facilities for the City of Jersey City. This includes municipal offices and maintenance facilities, police precincts, firehouses, and any of the more than 60 parks and recreation facilities throughout the City. The Division of Architecture also maintains records on all existing city owned facilities, and regularly coordinates capital repair and improvement projects with various city divisions and agencies on behalf of the administration.

The Division of Architecture concerned not only with how its buildings look, but also with how well they perform. The Division of Architecture is comprised of a highly talented and innovative staff of architects, project managers, construction experts, and support personnel. Its mission is to combine the goals and objectives of the administration with the needs and requirements of city residents and employees, to create inspiring civic-minded architecture for the benefit of all who work, reside, or visit Jersey City
