Councilwoman Candice Osborne was elected to represent Ward E on the City Council by 67% of the vote in the 2013 election. She has lived most of her adult life in Jersey City, where as a single mom she chose to raise her son in historic Paulus Hook.

In 2010, with the goal of fostering grass roots activism in Jersey City’s local Board of Education election, Candice created Campaign Connect, a powerful application that allows campaigns to apply the latest technology to motivate volunteers and make the most of voter file data. That election saw more voters than had ever before turned out at the polls in a Board of Ed election. As a result, the nationally recognized Campaigns and Elections Magazine named Candice a 2011 Non Partisan Rising Star for her work at real political reform. Campaign Connect has been put to work in a number of municipal campaigns, including Cory Booker’s 2010 re-election bid for Mayor in Newark.

Candice’s managerial skills were tested the morning after Hurricane Sandy hit Jersey City hard. She immediately set to work addressing the problems faced by residents with massive devastation to their homes. Working with other community-minded people who gathered each morning in front of a flooded out City Hall, Candice harnessed the outpouring of community support, connecting people who wanted to help with those who needed it. Jersey City Sandy Recovery became the sole lifeline for residents who had been left without shelter, clothing, and food. Volunteers cleaned basements, carted debris, and collected donations for people whose lives had been upended by the storm. As one of the founding members of Jersey City Sandy Recovery, Candice was recognized by Glamour Magazine and was honored at Glamour’s Women of the Year 2012 Awards.

After receiving her Master’s in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, Candice began her career as a computer programmer at MetLife. Since then, she has focused on both program and product management at WebMD.

Councilwoman Candice Osborne is an active member of the Historic Paulus Hook Association and serves on the board of trustees of the music ensemble, Con Vivo, which is dedicated to bringing free world-class chamber music to Jersey City.
